Our organic formula is entirely safe for licking or ingestion. Even if your pet licks their paws, enough salve would have been absorbed to be beneficial. Establishing a nighttime routine for application can be helpful, as pets may be less inclined to lick, allowing the salve to work effectively during the body's regenerative nighttime rest. Calendula, otherwise known as Calendula Officinalis, is a marigold plant that has historically been used for a host of different ailments, mainly those affecting the skin such as in the healing of wounds. The medicinal part of the plant is found in the beautiful, deeply rich colored orange and yellow flower. Calendula oil has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, and relieving diaper rash. It's also used as an antiseptic.

Depending on your dog and the condition of the environment in which they walk and play, frequency of salve application may vary. In general, it's best to apply before and after being outside.

You should always have a moist towel handy at the door to wipe their feet. This will help clean off stinging, irritated paw pads. Follow up with liberal application of salve on and between their pads.
